Macallan 50-Year Old Red Whiskey Collection The Red Collection, the superb single malt scotch whiskey brand from Macallan, embodies the company’s unwavering dedication to quality and tradition. The striking crimson hue was selected with inspiration from The Macallan’s “Choice Old” collection, which made its debut in 1903—more than a century ago. With amazing graphics, renowned Spanish painter and illustrator Javi Aznarez brought the line to life.
The Macallan 50 Year Old Red Whisky Collection, which has 45.1% alcohol by volume, is made from casks and barrels that have been seasoned with sherry.

Rich chocolate, black cherry, ginger, subtle floral notes, ancient wood, and soft leather are among the scents that can be detected with the nose. In terms of flavor, dates and dark chocolate, orange oil, and hints of sultanas are followed by a comforting blend of dried fruits and wood spices. A lingering aftertaste of crème brulee, dates, and raisins characterizes the rich and complex finish.
The farmer and lecturer Alexander Reid, who established The Macallan in 1824, is the starting point of the red thread. He moved to Easter Elchies in the late 1700s, and he turned the estate—which had been a tiny farming community—into a well-known distillery. Reid is a Scottish name meaning “the red one” that was formerly connected to having red hair.
