Nikka Yoichi is the name of a Japanese matured single malt whiskey. In the 1930s, Japanese whisky specialist Masataka Taketsuru left Suntory to start Yoichi, his first distillery. Yoichi still uses the traditional coal-fired distillation process to create its superb medium-peated malt whisky.

The news that Yoichi 10 Year Old Whisky, the world-famous beverage company that produces whisky from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo Distilleries as well as globally blended expressions like the hugely popular Nikka From The Barrel, is bringing back one of their best age statement whiskies will excite whisky enthusiasts everywhere.

This whisky was discontinued at the beginning of the now-famous Japanese whisky drought, thus it hasn’t been made in years. One of the businesses that was most severely impacted at the time by the issues with supply and demand was Nikka, which suddenly ceased producing a variety of expressions, particularly those that featured an age statement.
