Adèle Jout was married at Epernay in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier, a cork manufacturer from his own state. Their marriage officially established the Perrier-Jout trading firm. Under the direction of his son Charles, Perrier-Jout created the first brut champagne in history in 1854. It was also the first house to include the vintage and the year of harvest on the label.

The royal families of Sweden and Belgium, as well as the Court of Napoleon III, all adopted Perrier-Jout as their official beverage. This was made possible by the brand’s fame. Seven cellar masters have succeeded one another and prioritized quality over quantity in order to successfully preserve the House’s treasures, including the 1825 cuvée, which is the oldest known vintage in Champagne.
